A while ago, I wrote about my rather roller-coastery experience of 40 days of reciting Re Man. After wobbling anxiously all over the show for those six weeks, I eased myself into the comforting balm of a 40-day practice of 31 minutes of Sudarshan Chakra Kriya. Neutrality, equanimity, even keel – Sodarshan Chakra kriya strengthens your neutral mind which is exactly what you need in the face of wobbles.
I love this meditation. Right from day one, the fuzzy confusion brought up by Re Man began to refocus into soothing clarity. Where Re Man lead me to question deeply entrenched situations that were propping up my reality (unnerving but necessary!), Sodarshan Chakra Kriya handed me the embryo of an answer. Where Re Man lead me to what felt like the edge of a scary cliff, Sodarshan Chakra Kriya showed me a way down (or up?).
I made some big decisions during those 40 days. The most important one was to trim my schedule right back. I was cramming so much into my days and teaching more classes than I could possibly cope with, that I barely had time to breathe. And so I decided to drop a lot of stuff, including some of my classes. That’s a big deal for me, as I really value teaching.
Big changes
The first to go was my Sunday hatha class at Angel Fitness First. I’d taught this one for three years, so it was a big decision to hand it over to my friend Kat who’d just completed her teacher training. A double bonus: it helps Kat gain experience in teaching and it gives me Sundays back! The next to go will be handed over to Nish in a few weeks.
Nothing sudden, I’m inching forward slowly but surely. But just the decision to drop all this stuff from my schedule has created acres of space, so I know it’s right. Neutral mind, I love you! Sodarshan Chakra kriya, thank you for the exceedingly helpful impartiality!
Sodarshan Chakra Kriya strengthens your neutral mind like no other – and you definitely need its unwavering steadiness when life gets crazy.
